Daniel Castillo

Daniel Castillo, 71, passed away on Sunday, September 15, 2019 surrounded by the love of his family.

Danny was born January 1, 1948 to Pablo and Francisca Castillo who preceded him in death. He is also preceded in death by his son Mark Vasquez.

He married Helen Matta Castillo on July 24, 1982. Daniel and Helen were blessed with two very special children Amanda and Mark who survive him also surviving Daniel is his sister Eleanor Castillo Young; grandchildren Marky Vasquez, Matthew Vasquez and Seth Vasquez; great grandchildren Romero Vasquez, Alize Vasquez, Casanova Vasquez, Jadis Vasquez, Marylou Vasquez from Lubbock, TX and Ruby Vasquez from Lubbock, TX.

Danny attended Roswell Schools and enlisted in U.S. Army and was assigned to 82nd Airborne Division from 1968 to 1971, 82nd Airborne Division 1975 to 1979 and New Mexico National Guard Battery A 200th ADA 1984 to 1997. When he enlisted in New Mexico National Guard he took pride in all he accomplished while he served 27 years 11 months. Danny retired as Staff Sargent. As civilian he worked at Glovers Packing Co., New Mexico beverage Co., Rex TV as a salesman and Pollard Bus Co.

Visitation will be held from 3:00 pm – 7:00 pm, Wednesday, September 18, 2019 at Ballard Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:00 am, Thursday, September 19, 2019 at St. John’s Catholic Church with burial to follow at South Park Cemetery.
