March 19, 1919 - August 15, 2012

Bill Bogle

Services celebrating the life of Clarence McKnight Bogle (“Bill” Bogle) will be held Saturday, August 25, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. at the First Presbyterian Church in Dexter, New Mexico, followed by an old fashioned wake at the home of Bill and Berneice Bogle at 7190 South Lincoln Avenue, Dexter, New Mexico. The services will be preceded by a private burial.

He passed away, surrounded by his family at his home in Dexter Wednesday evening, August 15, 2012. He was born March 20, 1919 to Hal Green Bogle and Inez Fay Bogle in Kenton, Tennessee and moved with his parents the following year to Dexter, where he lived all his life. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 65 years, Berneice Gilmore Bogle, and by his parents and his brothers, Jackson C. Bogle, James H. Bogle and John Peter Bogle. He graduated from Hagerman High School in 1936 and Vanderbilt University in 1940. He met Berneice at a soda shop in Hagerman, and they were married on January 9, 1943.

Berneice and Bill lived in Dexter where he was a farmer and rancher. They have five children, Mary Lynn Bogle, Stuart McKnight Bogle, Donald Hal Bogle, Beverly Ann Bogle Coots and Scott Gilmore Bogle. He has nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. His sons and daughters live in Chaves County where they work in the family agricultural business, with the exception of Mary Lynn who is an attorney in Roswell and Artesia.

Bill’s life was devoted to his family, his church and his community. He was a devoted husband and father, an elder in the Dexter Presbyterian Church, and he donated his time and talents to many community organizations over the entirety of his life. He was a humble, generous and honorable man.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the Dexter Presbyterian Church.
