A rosary is scheduled for 7:00 p.m., Monday, February 22, 2010 at the Ballard Funeral Home Chapel for John S. Borba, 83, of Roswell who passed away February 19, 2010 at Eastern New Mexico Medical Center. A funeral mass is scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at St. John’s Catholic Church, located at 506 S. Lincoln, . Father Juan Antonio Gutierrez of St. John’s Catholic Church will officiate. Burial will follow at the Buena Suerte Ranch located at 3700 Lovers Lane in Roswell, NM.
John was born August 11, 1929 in Visalia, California to Edward and Vessie Borba. His parents have preceded him in death.
John is survived by his loving wife of 64 years: Mary Ann Borba; his three daughters: Diana Myers (Tom Salter) of Merced, CA., Linda (Carl) Durham and Janet Borba, both of Roswell, NM; his six grandchildren: Eddie (Carolyn) McCrary of Merced, CA., Sherry Jefferson of Merced, CA., Allen (Nora) Durham of Manteca, CA., Tanya (Jared) Wright of Patterson, CA., Carla (Skip) Winfrey of Modesto, CA. and Johnny Borba of Roswell, NM., along with eight great grandchildren.
John served in the U.S. Army before starting his own business, the John S. Borba dairy of Modesto, CA which he operated for almost forty years before relocating to Roswell, NM. John currently owned and operated Milky Way Dairy, a 900 head dairy and Buena Suerte Farms. He dedicated his life to the ranching and dairy business. He loved the dairy business and watching his crops grow. He always looked forward to the future and wanted to provide for his family. John also enjoyed his Portuguese heritage and liked to support Portuguese associations.
