David Alan Cole
David Alan Cole born in Portales, NM on August 12, 1949 and was called to Gods side Friday, May 25, 2012. Alan left peacefully from Casa Maria Health Care Center in Roswell, after a long battle with cancer. Alan was received at the age of 63.
David Alan Coles legacy is his family and friends. Mr. Cole was preceded in death by his parents David and Elvira Browning Cole and two siblings Carolyn and Sharon Cole. Mr. Cole is survived first by two brothers Kenneth Cole his wife Peggy Arnold Cole of Roswell, Dawson Cole and one other sister Sandra Eminger Cole and her husband Glenn. Alan had two sons Chad Cole his wife Jennifer and Mark Cole his wife Gina both of Roswell. In addition he is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great nieces. His grandchildren are Rylie, Tyler, Chance, Dylan, Cameron and Mark Cole Jr., his nieces and nephews include Richard Cole, Kim Northcutt, Lisa Briggs, Shauna Self, Clifford Self, Ben Eminger, and Mike Eminger. Alan never remarried and made amends with his former wife Nancy ONeal who also survives him.
Alan was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and an active member and volunteer of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States. Alan served his country with distinction during the Vietnam War, where he earned commendations, including National Defense Service Medal, Air Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal and a Rifle Sharpshooter designation. Alans patriotism never left him, as family and friends will attest, Semper Fi.
Alan was known by many to be a disciplined man with an attention to detail. Alan graduated from Eastern New Mexico University of Portales with a degree in business and administration. Alan taught his sons to honor their family name by being honest and loving. Alan enjoyed spending his time outdoors, hunting and fishing with his family and friends, Lets go play, Ive got a new toy to try out.
